Don’t Judge Me

Don’t judge me! Hey divas happy Monday and you know I am diving into the nitty gritty about judging. We are half way through this month and to be honest it’s been a rough year for me. Trying to stay consistent with my blog, work and home life. Along the way I have judged myself and have often wondered how people view me.

You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge another, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things. Romans 2:1

Is it ok to judge others? Let alone yourself? Of course we know the answer to this. It’s a big fat NO! We aren’t called to judge others or put unhealthy pressure on ourselves. I have been judged many of times weather I was judged by my hair, the clothes I wear, the way I talk. The list goes on and I’m sure it does for you as well. The ultimate issue is if you’re confident in who you are you will to allow what anyone think or feel of you bother you. This is easier said than done.

I often still struggle with my own thoughts and what people have said about me. However I am learning to use those negative attributes and turn them into positive attributes in my life. Weather true or not I try to use anything as motivation to do and be better. How are you trying to live your life judgement free?

Let’s get into this outfit. You know I love a good jumpsuit. But this one is extra special as it can be dressed up or down. It is a satin. Material with wide leg with pleating, v neck with buttons and a simple flutter sleeve. The length of this is long, however I normally would wear heels with an outfit like this. I am still recovering from my surgery so I opted for a pair of leopard sparkly slides. To top of this fun flirty look I grabbed my leopard print bag and shades. Oops did I fail to mention this look is from Fabrik and slides are from TJMaxx Steve Madden brand.

Have a good day xo Happy Fashion Divas.

Moving Forward in Style

Hey divas! Can you believe that July is almost over? Thats right and one of my favorite months is coming up.. Cough Ouch August.. Why? Because it’s the month I was married. This year will make 2 years.. whoot whoot! Not only will I be celebrating my anniversary but my sister will be getting married this coming Sunday. We making magic in August. So with that being said you know i will be blogging the fun road trip form Atlanta to Virginia.. and all of the wedding madness.. you know all the good stuff.

img_1972

Since it’s Monday it’s time for a little bit of Faith & Fashion.

“Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.” John 15: 20 KJV

Do you remember the day when you could stay up late, party hard and wake up early? Don’t get me wrong I’m not that old yet, however I definitely have no desire to do any of that anymore lol. SO my routine looked a little bit like this… IN COLLEGE!

  1. Wake up early
  2. eat breakfast
  3. go to class/or work depending on the day
  4. have study sessions in between classes/ or tutoring sessions on weekends
  5. attend praise dance practice on Wednesdays..
  6. THURSDAY-SUNDAY….. is now a blur ahhaha
  7. okay seriously thought I still had class but sometimes the party would start on Thursday’s and wouldn’t end till Sunday.. not that same party of course but there was always a party.. either a campus party. your bff’s dorm room party.. a Frat/Sorority party… you know the party that homeboy that his ex girlfriends grandmas house which is right around the corner house party.. The all white party.. the shorty short party.. okay okay you get the picture.. So what can I say I had fun. Well to be honest my sister and I and Bff were always the designated driver because we had a car so we were known as the sober girls.. lol
  8. Stayed up till 2 studying went to IHOP with the L7’s (a nickname for my crew back in the day)
  9. Monday=Do it all over again

img_1990

So this horrible college routine only lasted 1 year and half.. I am proud of that cause that life is rough.. Not healthy and definitely not what my momma was supporting me for. However It didn’t take me too long to realize that there’s more to life, college, and me than this type of lifestyle. Thats when I decided to take hold of my actions and buckle down and let the noise go! Meaning the parties, the people that were toxic, and anything that was spiritually unhealthy!

img_1968

When I made this ultimate shift in my life I that’s when I could see me against the world. I was no longer friends with friends I thought were my girls.. unnecessary drama broke out because I chose not to party or entertain anything less of my new morals and values. I decided to to take a stand for me and for what God had for me.. Honestly at that time I had no idea what God has for me but i knew it wasn’t this or these people.. So today I can honestly say that when you are not of the world .. the world will be against you and you will always have God standing with you. Yes I can look back and laugh on my wayward college days and nights but I look at it a testament to myself that I couldn’t have come this far without my faith and God! Often to many times we get tangled in the trends, society and what we think we should be doing.. This is clearly called being a follower. We are called to lead and be the light not to live in darkness.

My linen jumpsuit can be found at Fab’rik along with these oh so comfortable black slides. I love a cute kimono it’s perfect for summer days or to throw something over you arms if there’s a cool breeze! Kimonos can be found just about anywhere including Walmart.. yep don’t sleep on Walmart. Head on over to Fab’rik now as these items are still on sale. Are you moving forward in style this year? Today take a stand for you!

Boho Chic

Happy Monday Divas! it’s time for some Fish in Fashion motivation for this Monday! I am so tickled right now as I told one of my best friends that I was doing a Boho inspired look for the blog.. the response was what’s boho? Of course I was talking to a man so I had to not be so judgmental. Well If you didn’t know what boho is.. keep on reading!

img_1721

Today’s motivation strictly is coming form when I was little girl and I had..well my mom had sold all this candy and gift wrap for a school fundraiser. Do yaull remember those fundraisers? and the more you sell you can get those cool neon light up glasses.. some random bike, a walkman or a off brand gameboy.. Okay okay so the prizes were cool and my mom made it a point to try to get me the coolest thing on the list.. a “Camera” well after weeks of selling gift wrap and candy my sells totaled up for me to win the camera.

img_1717

It was finally the day when we would receive everything that was purchased so we could distribute the items to the buyer and for me to receive all fo my prizes. My grandmother Momma Doris picked me up from.. cough cough elementary school and i was so excited to get to her house and start playing with my new camera.. So bottom line the camera was not in my bag.. My momma Doris called the school.. called the company who as supposed to distribute the camera.. and she called the school again.. everyone kept saying I didn’t sell enough.. My Momma Doris was no push over and if yawl know anything about a black grandmother they will get to the bottom of any issue! Thats exactly what she did. Meanwhile I was to busy crying my eyes out and I’ll never forget so looked at me.. well she snatched me up looked at em dead in my eyes and said stop that crying.. Don’t you ever cry over anything or anyone of this magnitude in life”

img_1722

Long story short I ended up getting my camera and to this day.. If I have ever cried it was behind closed doors. I’ve been through a lot and it’s only been by the grace of God and those words my grandmother spoke to me as a kid that I have been able to overcome many obstacles. Small or little obstacles come in many different ways. Take this with you today, don’t cry over the smaller stuff there’s always a bigger reward in the end.

Have you ever heard of the 70’s? Coachella..Hippie..free spirited or what I like to say earthy.. Erykah Badu look. Boho is a sale that is looks fitting.. earth tones- with pops of color, peasant like wear, florals to modest prints, lots of embroidery pretty much throwback!

img_1763

Okay let’s get into this outfit! This Boho 100% cotton dress is from Fab’rik. Yes lately I’ve been loving their stuff. Super cute and chic. This dress is perfect for the hot summer days. Why? because it’s light weight with a small lining underneath, long enough to not get a sun-burn.. and yesssss black people do get sun-burns lol.. Anyways, I paired this lovely long maxi dress with some simple gladiator sandals and this basket earth tone sun hat. My belt bag comes from JustFab and I thought the yellow would be the perfect match for this outfit.. hello whoever brought back the fannie pack definitely knew to bring it back with style!

Happy Monday’s love remember don’t let the small things get you down! Stay in the fight and always push forward!

June In Bloom

Hi Divas and Happy first Monday of June! It’s been a long while since I have kicked a blog into full swing. However I have the perfect outfit and motivation for you. So let’s dive right tin the goodies.

img_1479

Let’s talk Fear, Faith and Fashion! So I was reading a devotional the other day and it was so perfect for my current situation. You can’t leave in fear without having a strong rooted faith in God.  Your fears can easily overcome your daily tasks, making it hard to function mentally and physically. However this is relation to anything that we do, how? Because we must always have a healthy balance. Our lives must be balanced, whether it’s work life.. healthy food to junk food… working out to not working out..of course to no fashion to fashion.. the list goes on.

img_1481

Meditate on this.. I can do all things with a balanced lifestyle and not succumbing to fear. Be balanced also means that you are powerful and can overcome anything that you set yourself too. So why not do this in style.

This lovely coral and cream outfit is from New York and Company..of course! and it’s from the Eva Mendes collection. This outfit was actually a gift for my birthday.. I know I know super late but guess what it’s still available. This lovely coral knot top is perfect, sexy and light weight for spring and summer. This stripe matching skirt gives the perfect balance with the button and bow tie back in the front or back. Eva always makes outfits super easy to put together. I paired this outfit with my gladiator zip back block heels from JustFab.

img_1475

That’s all you are now fearless.. confident and have your power outfit on.. You are now ready to conquer the week!

Purpose & Passion

Purpose and Passion is the theme for March. My hopes are to dig deep this month and finding your purpose which equals your passion. I have talked about this before lightly. However I think it’s a good time to revisit this. Not only for you all to be motivated but me as well. I tend to have atones of ideas, thoughts, passions and goals and some i never execute. However I am so exited that I have my girl tribe. IF you haven’t read my blog post about why you need a girl tribe check it out here.

img_0420

Anyways let’s dive into this Faith In fashion motivation. “Great are your purposes and mighty are your deeds. Your eyes are open to the ways of all mankind; you reward each person according to their conduct and as their deeds deserve.” Jeremiah 32:19. This month I tend to explore some of my goals and my purpose. Truly write and define and try to execute the ones that truly reflect my purpose. I want you all to write a goal, define and execute. let’s see how far we get this month! It will be interesting, well for me anyways. Are you ready to Conquer March ladies? Remember the theme is Purpose and Passion. Let’s rock your purpose in style.

img_0421

For this outfit, I wanted to a do a super classy and chic look. I mixed a little bit of old with new! You all know I love New York and Company, and I just had to snag this Gabrielle Union overalls that were on super clearance! No longer available however they have something similar! I love the cute adjustable buckles that snap in the back. This skinny pant leg overalls will set you apart especially in the office! I paired it with this roaring blue leopard blouse form JcPenny.. cough cough years ago. But the way I switch out my clothes you would think it was new! Topping this look off with a sequin beret and stank heel faux suede booties did the trick. And let’s not forget my blue floral and leather moto jacket. this was a major find and steal from TjMaxx a few years ago. Don’t sleep on the steals.

Crockpot Cheesy Potato Soup

I love soup during the cold weather…don’t you? Yes Soup and salad is one of my favorite classic meals. It’s fast and an easy meal that you can also use a meal prep! I am so here for meal prep. Let me know if you want me to give you some meal prep ideas and recipes.

Ingredients

• 1 bag of cubed frozen or fresh potatoes (bag/not frozen: simply potatoes) if using fresh cook time will vary

• 1 bag of shredded sharp cheese or mozzarella- which ever you prefer… I sometimes use both!

• 1 stick of cream cheese, 8 oz – you can use nonfat crème cheese

• 2 lbs, 32 oz of chicken broth

• ¼ cup of chopped onion

• ¼ cup of bell pepper

• 1 can of cream of chicken soup

• Salt and pepper to taste

• Crock pot

Now let the magic begin!

Pour the potatoes, cream of chicken, onion, bell peppers, and the chicken pot in the crock pot. Give it a nice stir. You crock pot should be on low temp as you will cook this for 6 hours on low. If you are using the fresh unfrozen potatoes cook for 4 hours. Place the lid on top and frequently check on your fixings. About 30 minutes before your 4 hour 6 hour mark, layer in some of your shredded cheese and cream cheese to your desire. The more cream cheese the thicker your soup will be. You can always add more chicken broth to thin it out. You will now also add in salt and pepper to taste.

Let that simmer and melt…

Bam! That’s it creamy potato soup. If you would like to kick this recipe up a notch try adding shredded chicken, bacon chives on top and broccoli!! Yummy. Please let me know if you tried this recipe and how you liked it!

Bon appetite divas.

Get Fit-Ted with Jonathan M.

Hey Divas its Faith in Fashion time. This month I have been so motivated by my peers! Ones especially with black owned businesses. I wanted to highlight a friend of mine, who is multitalented, educated and always in good spirits.  We all have heard the alarming teen obesity rate is up, according to chilhoodobesity.org we are looking at a rang of 14.5% – 26.1% ranging from age groups 2-18. that is insane! There are so many factors besides eating right, but your family foundation, a healthy environment, stability, love the list goes on.  So let’s dive a little deeper into what exactly Johnathan is up to!

Meet Jonathan Marsland

img_0614

Johnathan Marsland, a Creative Director, Entrepreneur as a Youth Track Coach, Clothing Designer and Gym Owner has tapped into something that today’s youth need! Being fit, healthy and motivated. The youth is our future and It all starts with them. Keeping them fit, educated and smart about fitness and healthy eating is my goal. So I have created three platforms which all work together in some form or fashion. From working out in my gym to running at my track and field program and lastly designing great sport apparel to look and feel good.”

Track Genius Fitness Lab

The Lab! doesn’t this sound strong, like you are about to learn something and become a new person! I having a marketing background love this name Track Genius fitness Lab! The Track Genius Fitness Lab “The Lab” is a training gym located in Nyack, NY where personal training for the youth is provided as well as some of the parents.

  • The goal is to cultivate a relationship with the athletes during the off season and to keep them in shape so they can be on top of their game.
  • All athletes are welcomed, no matter what sport they are involved in. This keeps them focused and relieves stress, pressure that they may be faced with .
  • The training builds the youths confidence and makes them realize there goals and mission.

Rock City Striders Track and Field Club

As if the “Lab” wasn’t enough since 2011 Jonathan has teamed up with the local community to make an impact for children between the ages 5 to 16.  Rock City Striders Track and Field Club is a community based non profit track and field program. Programs like this are hard to find anywhere. Not only is it one of its kind in Rockland County New York but it strives to enable children to develop their own athletic potential but to learn core life values. Some being: discipline, leadership, sportsmanship, responsibility and character! This program is found nowhere else in the track and field world! Core mission of this program is:
  • Rock City Striders mission and vision is to provide a quality program for each youth and their families through a constructive track and field experience that is based on individual development and performance.
  • To instill core values in each of our athletes that will ensure their success both on and off the track, with the support of parents and community; and to help improve the quality of life for both youth and families through physical fitness and health & wellness education.

Speed City Edition

All this workout.. getting fit talk got me loosing pounds just writing this blog! Okay okay let me hush up my non workout tail. However You all know my thing is fashion and guess what there’s an apparel line to go with all of this fitness fun!Speed City Edition was actually birthed by Jonathan’s own two wonderful children. the idea is for youth to collaborate with other athletes with great ideas to create and design workout apparel that appeals to them! Let’s be real we all love Nike, Puma, Adidas, reebok but how cool is for you tot design your own workout gear. This is so awesome because it elevates the youth mind and actually puts them in an entrepreneur mindset. So far Speed City Edition has done have done 5 collaborations with Bow Athletics, I Am Flight, and Chasin Greatness to name a few. These collaboration have been majorly successful.
  • This allows teens to have the opportunity to grow, learn, understand business values, earn money all while being creative at the sametime.
  • A platform to building na stronger youth within the community

Jonathan like to call this movement “For Youth by Youth”!

Are you feeling motivated yet? If not I can sure tell you I am! This is the type of things I love to read about. Jonathan and these companies are most definitely hidden gems right here in our own neighborhood! We need to elevate and uplift programs and business like this more often. I believe that we all get so fascinated with name brands and what’s currently trending, awhile there is something right in front of us! I want to encourage you to step out of your comfort zone including me and start striving to do something different, weather it is building a business, taking a course to learn something new, writing out goals of what you are going to accomplish.. or in my case start working out! 🙂  I want to Give my friend Jonathan a special thanks for allowing me to conduct this cover story on him and his businesses and if you are in the New York area hit him up for some training! None of us win if we don’t support!

More Than A Conqueror

No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.
Romans 8:37

I stumbled upon this passage right when I needed it the most. As many of you know my godmother passed last month and it did take me by storm. When I returned home from her funeral my husband had the house clean bed made.. and this devotional sitting on my night stand by my side of the bed. I looked at it and smiled.. but looked closer and this scripture was right on the front cover. I knew this would be our spiritual premise for the month of February.

img_0488

I have faced many challenges and obstacles in my life and boy do I know there’s more to come. I just try to position myself where I am prepared for whatever is to come. I try to learn from what I have already gone through and apply it to the next situation.

So what is a conqueror? What does this word mean to you and how are you allowing God to conqueror your life?

  • To be honest I didn’t know what it meant to conqueror anything. I had never thought about my struggles as accomplishments and conquering them. Whenever a problem or a tasks arise something inside of me would kick into go mode, and to find a solution and execute! Well that all changed as I grew older, wiser and closer to God.
  • Conquering to me means achieving
  • I allow God to conqueror my life by listening to him daily. I have found that I have to be spiritually fed in order to maneuver through life. Daily I must subject myself to him. Because lord knows if I operate in myself I can do some serious damage, make unnecessary mistake etc.

Let’s conqueror this month divas! Be bold, be you and say true!

img_0492

Mali Music- More Than A Conqueror is the perfect song to meditate to this month. I once praised danced too this song and let’s just say.. Amen! To this day it still gives me that energy that I need when feeling low!

img_0487

Faith in Fashion

Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through him who strengthens me.”

It’s Monday divas and I’m back with my Motivational Monday’s but I am switching this up to be called Fashion in Faith for 2019! If you’ve been following me on Instagram @emaneescloset you will know that I recently lost my godmother, friend, second mommy all of the above 2 weeks ago. So this Monday I am seeking positivity and rejuvenating my spirit.

img_0393

I decided that I would use this very well know scripture for today’s motivational Monday quote. Sometimes we need to get back tot he basics instead of complicating life and daily tasks. I am a strong believer of keep things simple… except my clothing lol. Sometimes when things become too hard.. so complicated  that when you need to stop and listen to the lord. How do you listen to God? It’s simple.. seriously just stop.. push out all the negative thoughts, your own thoughts.. this if’s ands, and but’s and allow God to live through you.. God speaks to us all differently and you have to learn to listen to him. This is when you allow God to lead in all things you do.

img_0394

No, it’s not always easy as we tend to just get up and do what feels right.. But who says what we are doing is right? Life gets hard and I have way to many testimonies where God seriously has given me the strength to get over many challenges. Everyday I pray with my husband, and before I go into work I pray again. I never know what that day is going to bring but I tell you one thing that prayer helps! I know you can relate, I’m sure you have gotten a call at work about something, a project stressed you out, a coworker was mean to you.. or even your lunch was nasty (okay maybe not) your child was bad at school, you got a flat tire.. The list goes on.. Divas call on him, he will give the strength to get through all things! Amen

img_0395
