All Thing Thrift – No Spend Challenge

Hey ladies, happy February, Black History, no spend and love month! That’s right this month is jammed pack with goodies. First  up is some thrifty style inspiration. February is the shortest month so why not start a challenge. A “No Spend Challenge” thats right. I and my girls are on a no spend “clothes” fast. Would you like to join? IT;s easy.. you can’t buy any new clothing items this month you must shop your own closet. This should be easy and hard at the sometime. As well know Winter sales and Spring new arrivals are among us. One may argue that I don’t need any new clothes which is half way correct. Last year I donated 10 bag of clothes and sold items on Poshmark. So.. I may need to purchase a few summer items.. Stayed tuned for summer finds.. of course after February.

Here’s a fun fact… my blog is based off the items that are in my closet. I started this blog when I was in between jobs. It started off as some thing just to do in sure time and keep my mind busy. But I realized there’s another whole community through this and I absolutely love it! This no spend challenges is honestly getting me back to the true foundation of my blog. If you would like to join the #nospendchallenge. Simple use our hashtag to let us know you are in! We will support you and share our daily struggles and updates on how it’s going. The object is simply to save instead of constantly being a consumer. Lord knows a lot of us are in debt from student loans, credit cards, mortgage, cars…bills…bills and bills. So I think everyone could save a little and spend less.

So let’s dive into these outfits. Thrifting is not new to me, as I just haven’t [reviewed it here on the blog as much. Let me know if you would like to see more shifted items and how I style each piece. I love to shop consignment and thrift stores. Wherever I can get the best deal, I am there!

Animal Chic

Many of you know I love prints, animal just so happens to be one of my favorite. IF you follow me on Instagram, a few weeks ago I found this blazer at The Goodwill for $6.  Leather pants are a good 5 years now from TJMaxx, my Nike sneakers are from DSW and bought before I had my surgery last year. They were expensive but by far one fo the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. You get what you pay for! Belt is super old and the top underneath that you can barely see is last 2 seasons ago Gabrielle union sweater with leather detail on the front.

My heels are from JustFab and once again already was in my closet form several seasons ago. Don’t laugh but my sunglasses are on their last leg as I need to order more before the Georgia sun becomes blinding. I styled this look with heels or sneakers to give you an option as I am still not walking in heels yet. Yes a long recovery after the surgery I had last March.

Granny Smith or Should I say Dani Smith Inspired!

Lately my girl Dani Smith has been rocking her thrifted pieces and has been setting the shift bar high on Social media! I have had this skirt in my wardrobe for quite sometime and thought now is the perfect time to rock this look. It’s simple but classy. This 100% wool tweed skirt as purchased at The Goodwill for $5. The sweater I already had and my Liz Claiborne Boots are fromJcPenney 3 seasons ago for $19. I added a leopard print belt and bag which is a Gucci dupe for added character and thats it! Simple cute and ready to go!

I encourage you to visit your local Good will and shift stores, I  guarantee you will find some gems… well not this month maybe next month?

Until next time xo Happy Fashion Divas.

It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas

Hey ladies, yes it’s been forever since I have written a blog. But why not come back the last month of the year. I am determined to finish it off with a blast!Whelp we are in full swing of the holiday season. If you follow me on Instagram I hinted that December is one of my favorite months. I will be sharing why and starting off my 12 days of holiday glam outfits this month as well.  So buckle up and hold on tight cause I plan to make this December a bang.

image00016

Growing Up Without Christmas

Only my closes friends know that I absolutely love December because of Christmas. It’s not just the gifts, or the holiday cheer that gets me all in a frenzy, however there’s a deeper meaning behind it. I grew up muslim, not barely celebrating any holiday’s besides thanksgiving and my birthday only because my mom demanded my day to allow us too. However deep in my soul, I knew one day I would be Christian. When my parents officially spilt when I was in High school my mom asked what would you like to do. I said please take me to church, and that she did. We attended and soon became members of her childhood church Bethel A.M.E Methodist Church in San Diego California. I was soon baptized and even joined the youth choir. Please don’t ask me to sing as i really can’t but I definitely put on a solo concert for friends and family lol!! Anyways. I ventured down the new Christian path with my best-friend Vanessa. We both shared similar struggles going up as we held onto each other tight and allowed God to blossom through us!

image00010

From there of course Christmas was filled with more than a meaning of just gifts but a true estimate of What God brought me through and who I was becoming. This may sound odd but the death of my parents marriage was the birth of my spiritual connection to God. I truly think my other for heeding to God’s voice and listening and knowing that she had to move in another direction in order to give her children a future.

The entire month of December brings me warm and fuzzy cheerful delight with my family and friends. Although my brothers and sisters all live in different states, that never stops us form talking just about everyday. The holiday season tends to bring us closer together as we share a special bond and cherish this month for it’s a different meaning of light for our family.

image00005

What makes you most happy about this season? Do you and your family have any special traditions? I’ll share one of mine. Every year at midnight when the Clock strikes 12 and it is Christmas day, I get up bless the house and read the birth of Christ. We pray and may even sing a song a two. I actually started this tradition years ago and now has carried on with my husband! I am eager to hear what it is you all do?

image00014

So let’s get into this first holiday look. This is definitely a little bit of old and new mixed together to create the perfect pop! Starting form head to toe. You all have seen this luxe green velvet blazer that comes from my favorite New years shopping place… cough cough Dillards of course. Pairing it with this fuzzy mixed with velvet bow with a bling broach adds the perfect touch for the top! No necklace needed! I purchased this sweater from Poshmark but it still available at Zara.  Who doesn’t like gold trousers. I do. I’ve been searching high and low for the perfect gold trousers and of course New York & Company came through. I topped this look off with a pair of patent black loafers or of course my matching green velvet heels.

How to be Fashionable on a Poshmark Budget

Hey divas it’s the season when we start racking up our sweaters, cardigans boots all the fall and winter weather. We all know winter fashion can be expensive. But I have a severed that will blow your mind.

I have cut back on buying clothes and only purchasing the things I need or or…. if there are items that I find for super cheap that I just can’t resist. Hey why not! Well the truth is Poshmark has been my best friend for the past couple of months.

Poshmark is an online thrift store for new and used items. You can shop anything from shoes, clothes, accessories to house hold items don’t forget kids and men’s items. Once you’re signed up familiarize yourself with the app. Figure out how to like and bundle items from sellers closets. Also there’s an option to offer the seller a cheaper price for their item/items. Don’t forget you can also sell your gems and use the earnings towards another purchase or cash out your earnings.

I like to search for brands that I know the quality will hold up of used. My top searches recently include Michael Kors, UGG, Zara, J Crew, and Goodnight Macaroon just to name a few. Many sellers have brand new items discounted. I have racked up many new items for as low as $10 that is regularly $60.

If you are going to purchase used sweaters or shoes make sure you ask to see a close up of the sweater from the seller. Sweater tend to get those little knot balls this can tell you the condition the sweater is in and if it’s worth the price the seller is asking for it. For shoes if used ask to see the bottom and inside of the shoes if not already posted.

If you’re paying for a used name brand item you’re going to want to get this as close to new and in the best condition for the best price. Do not purchase the first item you see hit the like button and keep searching. There are usually 3-5 listings of the same item you’re looking at. Some will be new and used. Please note that some sellers do post junk and are just trying to get money. If there are stains scratched etc or of the soles and inside of the shoes look totally worn purchase at you’re own digression. This is the same for any clothes.

The fun about Poshmark you as a seller can name your own price with your items and as a buyer you can bargain with the seller!

Now let’s get into this outfit! So… this entire outfit is from Poshmark except the blazer. This lovely ruffle tulle from sweater is from the loft. The seller said she had only worn once and to be honest there were no signs of it being worn. I was able to snag this sweater for only $10. These plaid pants are from Topshop only worn once. The material is a thick Cotten and are high waisted. I love these beauties are they fit perfectly and are great for fun or work! I purchased these pants for $11. In my eyes the real steal are these faux leather Michael Kors sneakers. I feel like I stole these lol no but I only paid $20 for these brand new!! What a steal. I was beyond excited. My military olive green blazer just adds the perfect pop to this outfit. I got this beauty form New York and Company for only….. $9 on clearance. You know I love a good deal.

So when it came down to it I technically only paid $41 for this entire outfit. Keep in mind you will have to pay for shipping not unless the seller offers you discounted or no shipping. The best thing to do is to ask the seller for discounted shipping or no shipping. If you don’t ask you may never know!

Oh yes yaull asked for my hair to be big well the humidity was disrespectful to my hair lol. So boom I served this Poshmark look with my wild hair.

Happy Hump Day and stay fashionably cheap!

2 Years down and Forever 2 Go

Hey ladies, I’ve been a bit MIA trying to start some new business ventures, trying to dive into some new job opportunities and of course trying o maintain this blog and content for you all. I admit I have been failing at it horribly but I haven’t given up.. Hey sometimes we need a break and then to get back up and try again. This year has been rough but I am trying to plan for the months ahead and hit 2020 with a bang. Yep already projecting out 2020.

img_2579

I just wanted to share with you ladies that over the weekend was my 2 year wedding anniversary with my superhero.. my husband Benjamin. What a joyous milestone to accomplish and it feels so wonderful!

img_2575

I wanted to share with you all my outfit details. I originally bought this 2 piece nautical outfit from Zara unfortunately it’s sold out but don’t worry I found the same outfit on Shein! I like to call this a status print with the nautical rope and chain detail. It’s absolutely stunning and can easily go from day to night.img_2578

You all know I love a good two piece outfit and I am still not ready to get into my high heels since my surgery. The top is actually a sheer tank top with a cape overlay. It adds an elegant touch to this outfit. The pants hit right at the ankle and has a side zipper. the over all material is satin and polyester but feels so silky and comfortable. The best thing about this was that it didn’t make me hot! Perfect for summer and fall.

Don’t Judge Me

Don’t judge me! Hey divas happy Monday and you know I am diving into the nitty gritty about judging. We are half way through this month and to be honest it’s been a rough year for me. Trying to stay consistent with my blog, work and home life. Along the way I have judged myself and have often wondered how people view me.

You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge another, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things. Romans 2:1

Is it ok to judge others? Let alone yourself? Of course we know the answer to this. It’s a big fat NO! We aren’t called to judge others or put unhealthy pressure on ourselves. I have been judged many of times weather I was judged by my hair, the clothes I wear, the way I talk. The list goes on and I’m sure it does for you as well. The ultimate issue is if you’re confident in who you are you will to allow what anyone think or feel of you bother you. This is easier said than done.

I often still struggle with my own thoughts and what people have said about me. However I am learning to use those negative attributes and turn them into positive attributes in my life. Weather true or not I try to use anything as motivation to do and be better. How are you trying to live your life judgement free?

Let’s get into this outfit. You know I love a good jumpsuit. But this one is extra special as it can be dressed up or down. It is a satin. Material with wide leg with pleating, v neck with buttons and a simple flutter sleeve. The length of this is long, however I normally would wear heels with an outfit like this. I am still recovering from my surgery so I opted for a pair of leopard sparkly slides. To top of this fun flirty look I grabbed my leopard print bag and shades. Oops did I fail to mention this look is from Fabrik and slides are from TJMaxx Steve Madden brand.

Have a good day xo Happy Fashion Divas.

Boho Chic

Happy Monday Divas! it’s time for some Fish in Fashion motivation for this Monday! I am so tickled right now as I told one of my best friends that I was doing a Boho inspired look for the blog.. the response was what’s boho? Of course I was talking to a man so I had to not be so judgmental. Well If you didn’t know what boho is.. keep on reading!

img_1721

Today’s motivation strictly is coming form when I was little girl and I had..well my mom had sold all this candy and gift wrap for a school fundraiser. Do yaull remember those fundraisers? and the more you sell you can get those cool neon light up glasses.. some random bike, a walkman or a off brand gameboy.. Okay okay so the prizes were cool and my mom made it a point to try to get me the coolest thing on the list.. a “Camera” well after weeks of selling gift wrap and candy my sells totaled up for me to win the camera.

img_1717

It was finally the day when we would receive everything that was purchased so we could distribute the items to the buyer and for me to receive all fo my prizes. My grandmother Momma Doris picked me up from.. cough cough elementary school and i was so excited to get to her house and start playing with my new camera.. So bottom line the camera was not in my bag.. My momma Doris called the school.. called the company who as supposed to distribute the camera.. and she called the school again.. everyone kept saying I didn’t sell enough.. My Momma Doris was no push over and if yawl know anything about a black grandmother they will get to the bottom of any issue! Thats exactly what she did. Meanwhile I was to busy crying my eyes out and I’ll never forget so looked at me.. well she snatched me up looked at em dead in my eyes and said stop that crying.. Don’t you ever cry over anything or anyone of this magnitude in life”

img_1722

Long story short I ended up getting my camera and to this day.. If I have ever cried it was behind closed doors. I’ve been through a lot and it’s only been by the grace of God and those words my grandmother spoke to me as a kid that I have been able to overcome many obstacles. Small or little obstacles come in many different ways. Take this with you today, don’t cry over the smaller stuff there’s always a bigger reward in the end.

Have you ever heard of the 70’s? Coachella..Hippie..free spirited or what I like to say earthy.. Erykah Badu look. Boho is a sale that is looks fitting.. earth tones- with pops of color, peasant like wear, florals to modest prints, lots of embroidery pretty much throwback!

img_1763

Okay let’s get into this outfit! This Boho 100% cotton dress is from Fab’rik. Yes lately I’ve been loving their stuff. Super cute and chic. This dress is perfect for the hot summer days. Why? because it’s light weight with a small lining underneath, long enough to not get a sun-burn.. and yesssss black people do get sun-burns lol.. Anyways, I paired this lovely long maxi dress with some simple gladiator sandals and this basket earth tone sun hat. My belt bag comes from JustFab and I thought the yellow would be the perfect match for this outfit.. hello whoever brought back the fannie pack definitely knew to bring it back with style!

Happy Monday’s love remember don’t let the small things get you down! Stay in the fight and always push forward!

Two 4th of July Outfits

It’s that time of year when family, friends, cookouts and pool parties take place. Let’s not forget legs and cute outfits come out! Today on the blog I’m getting right to it we are talking about 2 cute outfits to wear this 4th of July.

img_1754

Flashback honestly I have always shared the 4th with my family. Enjoy the day off with good food. What do yaull typically do? I guess planning something never sparked an interest as it would look like this…. stuck in an amusement park line wearing out my cute outfit. Stuck in traffic with the ac blasting and eating Bojangles… or being uncomfortable because it’s so hot and so many people everywhere. However if I were to truly plan something of course it would be detailed with a bunch of food, water, legs and cute outfits and of course my husband lol.

img_1730

Encouraging Blazer

Okay okay enough with the plans. First outfit up is this darling super cute, sexy semi professional look. This encouragement blazer from New York & Company will sure to get the heads turning. The blazer spread positivity throughout with words such as: Queen, Love, Courage, All we need is Love. This is so awesome since the world that we live in today can be so negative.

img_1752

I paired this blazer with a pair of 6 inch high waisted flare shorts in red! I can’t remember the last time I bought a pair of shorts this length as anything to long will make me look extra skinny. However these are just right. It to short and not to long. I wore a simple collard chiffon white blouse underneath. This blouse is super old and can be found just about anywhere. I topped this look off with my simple red tie up wedges, tassel earrings and red sunnies.

img_1749

Tye Dye & Sneakers

will have the millennials saying yasss! I’m not even sure if I fit into that category and I’m such an old soul with some spunk. Anyways my momma would probably have a fit seeing me wear sneakers with this gorgeous tye dye maxi dress that’s from Fab’rik. This dress looks better in than off. It’s super light weight no lining but not see through. It ties around the neck and cinch in at the waist. What’s truly gorgeous is the overall tye print of this dress. Have you ever seen ugly tye dye? Well I have…

img_1746

Can we talk about these sneakers…. so as we know crazy fun sneakers have made the come back with a twist. Unfortunately I can’t afford $100 pair of sneakers or maybe I just won’t pay that much lol. Yeah the last time I did that was back when I purchased a pair of light blue timberlands this was like in the year 2000. Anyways. I got these colorful sneakers from ShoeDazzle as. A matter of fact they are 50% off right now! Pairing this fun outfit with my strawberry purse and highlighter pink sunnies did the trick!

img_1729

It’s just as simple as that. So what are you outfit plans and day plans for the 4th? Be safe and have fun. Xo happy Fashion Divas.

June In Bloom

Hi Divas and Happy first Monday of June! It’s been a long while since I have kicked a blog into full swing. However I have the perfect outfit and motivation for you. So let’s dive right tin the goodies.

img_1479

Let’s talk Fear, Faith and Fashion! So I was reading a devotional the other day and it was so perfect for my current situation. You can’t leave in fear without having a strong rooted faith in God.  Your fears can easily overcome your daily tasks, making it hard to function mentally and physically. However this is relation to anything that we do, how? Because we must always have a healthy balance. Our lives must be balanced, whether it’s work life.. healthy food to junk food… working out to not working out..of course to no fashion to fashion.. the list goes on.

img_1481

Meditate on this.. I can do all things with a balanced lifestyle and not succumbing to fear. Be balanced also means that you are powerful and can overcome anything that you set yourself too. So why not do this in style.

This lovely coral and cream outfit is from New York and Company..of course! and it’s from the Eva Mendes collection. This outfit was actually a gift for my birthday.. I know I know super late but guess what it’s still available. This lovely coral knot top is perfect, sexy and light weight for spring and summer. This stripe matching skirt gives the perfect balance with the button and bow tie back in the front or back. Eva always makes outfits super easy to put together. I paired this outfit with my gladiator zip back block heels from JustFab.

img_1475

That’s all you are now fearless.. confident and have your power outfit on.. You are now ready to conquer the week!

How To Find Your Own Unique Style!

Hey divas, what type of fashionista are you. You see I think that every women has a fashionista inside of her weather, you are trendy, classic, sporty, urban, modern, chic, and simple the list can go on. I developed my since of style over time. I can tell you one thing I didn’t like looking or feeling normal. I love pops of color with a classy edge. On todays blog I’m giving you 3 helpful tips on how to dress outside the box! Are you ready for this?

Find you unique sense of style

img_0399

Whether it’s a favorite color, print/pattern, ruffles, high collar blouse, bell sleeves, flare legs, maxi skirts, skinny leg pants, find it! Once you find what you love you will begin to develop your sense of style! Like I said I feel like I tend to overdo it thats why most of my family calls me the Diva! And that fine I welcome it!

Start mixing and matching you favorite pieces

img_0400

Start mixing neutrals with a pop of color. Once you have spiced up your outfit with color then throw in a print. Complimentary prints will add a sense of character to your outfit. If I’m unable to find the perfect print to match with my solid I tend to jazz it up with my accessories  Fun shows, purses and head wear can also do the trick.

If it’s wrong then it’s right

img_0401

Remember there is no wrong to fashion.. well there are a few rules when mixing prints. Im sure I wrote a blog on this if I find it I will link it here! Colors often can be your best friend  In this case take my outfit I have mixed snake print with cheetah print? Yes 2 different animals but it works. How? Well they are both in the same color family.. Did you even notice the 2 different prints. It’s subtle things like this that will make you the ultimate fashionista!

So how did you do? I seriously want to see how you styled some of your closet treasures! I have talked about this before on my blog that your clothing is a form of expression, your identity and your creativity.

img_0405

Now for the details on my look. Let’s start off with these radical boots. They are from Ericdress. They sent me a bunch of items and these boots were the only thing that actually checked out! Yay cause they are hot fire! I paired these mixed media snack print faux suede boots with my  purple suede jump or what we call midi dress. This dress is so comfortable, thick and lined. This was a Dillards find from a few years ago! I honestly had no idea how to add the orange let alone if I was going to wear orange with this look. To be honest I thought ti was so far out there and had to convince myself that this was bomb.. and it is! This chunky knit sweater is from H&M, I picked this beauty up for $15. I topped my look off with a Leopard print belt and bag.. and of course some old fashioned sunnies.

Why Sweaters are Perfect For “Sweater Weather”

Yes divas it’s officially sweater weather. that’s right, pull out your chunky, knit, turtle neck, hi lo, and all color sweaters out of your closet! I sure am.. If you didn’t know I love sweaters…all types! I don’t discriminate. (lol) anyways, today’s blog is about sweaters.. well obviously! I love mixing a long cardigan with a good sweater.

Why A Cardigan?

Cardigans are my go to in the fall and winter! why? because they add an extra layer of warmth, style and can easily jazz up or dress down an outfit. I stay cold so have a funky layer piece always says i thought about this outfit instead of “I’m cold.” I usually flock towards long cardigans so that it makes wearing leggings, skinny cans, crop tops, or any sweater that hits right at your waist look more professional.. especially if you are int eh work place. Let’s get this right, I don’t wear crop tops to work that’s so not appropriate.

  1. V-neck
  2. Crewneck
  3. Chunky
  4. long line

Why A Sweater?

Because it keeps your warm! Thats so obvious however Sweaters can also be dressed up or down! styled with jeans, slacks, shorts, skirts you name it! I feel like I should have said greens, beans, potatoes.. you name it!! There are so many different styles that at least having the basics are necessary.

  1. V-neck sweaters are great for a business casual look, where you can easily pair a button up collard blouse underneath.
  2. Crew neck, which is also the round neck.
  3. Cowl neck sweater is for someone who like the “thought” of a turtleneck but possibly doesn’t like the “i’m being choked” feeling.
  4. Turtleneck
  5. Mock neck
  6. Oversized, one of my favs to wear with leggings or skinny jeans.
  7. Cropped
  8. Hi Lo

All of these types of sweaters come in, slim knit, chunky, oversized, cropped, hi lo you name it there’s a sweater that will fit your style.

Now for my look! I went for an all white underneath this crazy english scene print cardigan. True story, my boss thought I was excited about thanksgiving, she thought it was turkey and cranberries on my cardigan. However it’s actually a women in a store selling fruit to a man at a counter. anyway this cardigan coat is super warm, long and has every pop of color your heart desires! I pair it with my chunky cable knit white turtleneck, a pair of skinny Michael Kors jeans and my high hell lace up booties! It’s so simple.

How do you wear your sweaters and cardigans?

xo happy fashion divas!
