Divas you all know I’m a bargain shopper. I rarely buy anything at full price and if I do it’s because I know that item will be gone..gone and GONE. I love to think of myself as the ultimate bargain shopper as I have purchased $100 item for $5 my last win was an $80 for $8 can I get an amen. Now I am no extreme coupon guru like the women on that television show but I have a few tricks up my sleeve.
Look For Sales
My first tip is to look for sales. Now I have some staples stores that I know I can always rely on for a good deal. But if I see a sale that doesn’t stop me from looking. Now be mindful some stores like to raise their regular prices and drop them on sale and they call it a sale. No this means they are still getting their regular retail price off the sale. Does that make sense? I have seen it done before I some major department stores. They will put a red tag over the regular price. But me being an avid shopper I got hip to what they were doing. People see red = sale or discount but why does the red sticker match the regular price. So make sure you are paying attention. A good sale for me is anything above 40% off where I can double with coupons which leads me to my next tip.
Coupons are great when they can be doubled with a sale. Okay okay any coupon is good however it depends on the value of the coupon. I usually look for coupons that give me a significant dollar amount off. Now some stores do not allow you to double the sale with a coupon or they make you choose. Figure out if the coupon is or the sale is a better deal. Mind you I am not mathematician but when it comes to my deals I am on it!
Find Rotating Deals
Pick you 3 top stores that you love and learn their sales, coupons and offers. Many stores today have credit cards which equals points. Please please be mindful if you are going to venture down the credit card lane, make are you are being responsible and understand all of the terms and conditions. You don’t need a credit card to access to all of the deals and coupons. You can always join the stores email list to receive weekly updates, deals and coupons! No one needs to go into debt over looking fly.
Consignment & Thrift Stores
I love consignment and thrift shops. Consignment shops will be more expensive but still can find great name brand deals. You thrift shops has rotating deals during the week. Two bloggers that I admire about their thrifting skills are my girls Kisha of the Kisharoseatl and Melodie of the MelodieStewart blog. Check out their blogs if you want more thrifting tips! I usually pop in thrift stores just to see what deals I can find here and there. Usually you will realize that nothing goes out of style. What’s trending today is was trending a few years ago. So that blazer that is on the rack for $80, you can most likely find for $5 at the thrift store. Check it out and tell me what you think.
Okay so I am sure you all are dying to know the details on this outfit. This polka dot bell sleeve blouse comes from TJMaxx. It’s Calvin Klein and was on super discount for $12! This skirt is from H&M and it’s trending on many blogs and I will definitely do a side by side with some of my girls so you can see how they styled this skirt on Instagram. Make sure to follow me @emaneescloset. The skirt is a knot body con with pops of silver metallic threading. The black and white waist band is subtle but ties in the overall honeycomb look. I topped this look off with my red suede chunky heel booties and a few red accessories. I thought about pairing my silver metallic booties with this too. Hmm what do you think?

Hey divas is your wardrobe fall ready? Yes, no, maybe. Well if you are looking to elevate your wardrobe this fall and winter the Gabrielle Union Collection exclusively at New York & Company is a great starting point.
I’m kicking it off with this royal blue and black knit striped dress. Ladies let me first off by saying the quality is amazing and so is the fit. This dress will definitely hug every curve on your body.
I love dresses like this as they are easy and always make you look like you put effort into your outfit. I decided to pair this dress with pops of color such as red and white. I added these red vibrant earrings, red shades and a color block chevron print bag. My shoes are old from JustFab but are such a classic as they give the stripe effect to my feet!!!

We all draw inspiration from somewhere or someone. I remember growing up getting my first job at Seaworld with one of my best friends and earning our very first paycheck! We were so excited and all we could think about was going shopping! That’s exactly what we did. My mom took us to the San Ysidro Outlet is San Diego, CA. We shopped at Papaya the Nike outlet, Forever 21 and a few other stores. I saw this because we were totally bestie to the point we bought matching outfits. I am going to try my hardest to find some pictures of us matching! okay So I couldn’t find it.. Vanessa if you got it send it over lol!!
Today I don’t find myself matching with any women but gaining inspiration from my blogger sisters. Today I took some classy and fashionable inspo from my blogger sister Danni Howard the Modern.Day.Classic. She’s super fun, has a great classy style but makes it modern for the everyday women! I totally love it and her.
With that being said dive into this classic look.
I love stripes, from pants, jackets, blouses purses. Stripes can add pop to a classic look or make you look bold and edgy! In this case. I found these crop wide leg split ankle paperbag pants… (whew that was a lot) from TJMAXX. These light weight pants serve for a blend between going to work and or a weekend vibe. I paired these pants with a simple chiffon tank blouse also from TJMAXX for only $7.99!
Keeping this look simple and classy, I chose to pair this outfit with complimentary blush pink block heels. My odd shape shiny pink bag is a perfect match. Both heels and purse are from Justfab.
I’m in love with this look and if I had pink espadrilles I would have wore them just like Danni did!Let me know if you style an outfit like this or how would you style your stripe pants?

So the truth is.. I missed the Coachella 2018.. but that doesn’t mean this outfit isn’t giving me hippie, bohemian Coachella vibes! It’s friday and boy am I ready to enjoy some sun! I’m going to keep it short and simple today. I have been featuring clothes from Versona more on the blog as I used to shop there when I lived in Virginia. Versona is the same boutique as Cato Fashion. They have similar styles and great quality, I honestly like Versona a bit better.
This bell sleeve tribal print off the shoulder top is from Versona. I love the colors, the print and it’s one of those blouses that keep your snatch in at the top so you don’t feel exposed. the shorts are of course from… Old Navy! I love their shorts, as they fit me great, they last years, and they are affordable.
My accessories consist of simple cognac low gladiator sandals from JustFab, this lovely round straw purse with pom poms is from Shein. Let’s just give a moment of silence to this purse.. it’s it the cutest!!! last but not least my shades are my Betsy Johnson. Is there a Coachella part 2 this year.. cause I’m ready to go lol!
Enjoy your weekend. xo happy fashion divas!

Mother’s Day is time to celebrate your mom, grandmother, aunts, sisters, friends or anyone that has been in your life that has children. For many this can be a day of remembering our loss loved ones. In my eyes being a mother is not easy.. a mother wears many hats, uptakes many roles and ultimately keeps the daily, yearly and future rolling!
Today I want to recognize my twin, my rock, my warm peach, my mom. Teresa Lynn (Salone) Shakoor was born on August 12, 1954 in San Diego California, to Robert and Doris Salone. She is the youngest of 3 and loves to sing, dance, care for others and can cook a mean peach and sweet potato pie! After graduating Lincoln High school.. yes where the black panthers marched to protect their fellow brethern! She went on to San Diego City college and received a certificate in administration from Kellsy Jenny College. Not many years after she married William Perry Thornton aka Rashad Shakoor. Yep that’s how I became Tupacs cousin! My mom joined forces with my father by opening Shure-Core cutting company, which was the first black owned construction company in San Diego. Looking back today a lot of the bridges, bypasses and other foundational structures in San Diego where built by my dad and administered by my mom. Pretty cool I’ll say!
The construction company was not the only company in the shakoor family, as I said before my mom can cook a mean meal! Well soon Teresa’s fine foods was born. By this time my mom had for kids me being the youngest.. and her only side kick was our momma Doris ( her mom). She managed to raise 4 kids, be a devoted wife, and run a full time business. Although the food train came to an end it didn’t stop her famous potato salad from becoming world famous.. When I say world famous I mean famous in the African American community. My mom catered her potato salad to the military making sometimes over 60 pounds of potato salad. her potato salad was such a hit that she was personally asked to cater a luncheon for the Shabazz family! Yes the one and only Malcolm X family.
my mom landed a job with the San Diego Union Tribune where she work, the classified ads, and then managed the obituary column. Being a key role to a huge newspaper didn’t slow down my mom at home nor her fashion! Did you think I would forget. You all know how much I love my om and her style, it’s where I gain inspiration. My mom was a hot stepper at work and even at home! I always remember shopping with my mom at Robinsons May which is now Macy’s and many other department stores. From her hair to her shoes she never missed a beat.
Let’s fast forward, after my parents divorce, my mom moved 3 of her 4 kids to Virginia where I and my sister completed our bachelors degree from Norfolk State University, only following in our brother and other older sister’s footsteps. Our educational train didn’t stop there as we all today have our master’s degree in various fields.
Through many hardships that my mom faced she never gave up on her determination to be a good mother to her children, to motivate to get all of us through college, and to trust in God. One thing she wanted for all of us was to be better than her and to get an education. We all did just that! We owe that strength, long hours of studying and student loan debt to her 🙂 (but that’s good debt I’ll say) Today my mom still hasn’t missed a beat, as she recently retired from being a medical assistant from Sentera Hospital and is planning on traveling and of course spending time with her grandchildren. (not mine yet!)
I owe so much to this strong, beautiful, godly women, words honestly can’t explain. This is only a snippet into what I can write about my warm peach. I know if you have ever met here she has truly warm your heart and soul. She is truly my twin that I can’t help be more than alike. Today is to you mom, love you
I figured recreating some of my moms steller looks would be an awesome blog for today. I remember looking at these pictures year after year, saying to myself I am going to look like that when I get older, or I can’t wait to dress so nice…(as if she didn’t already dress me well). Tell me your fondest memories of your mom or any special women in your life.

Sometimes we don’t realize where we find our inspiration from and other times we just follow the trends. Each year as I get older I count my blessings and realize how much I am becoming more like my mother. Not just by the way I look, but how I pair my outfits.
I am keeping it simple on today’s blog with this eyelet white maxi dress. I bought this last season from New York & Company for my honeymoon. I didn’t have the chance to wear it as it was extremely hot in St. Lucia. This maxi dress is delicately made as it has eyelet laces, crochet and comes with a lining! Awesomely made. I decided to pair this dress with my blue and white nautical stripe wedges from Justfab. Let’s not forget I love a good sun Hat. Keeping along with the fresh nautical theme this blue and white strip hat is the perfect match! Don’t like hats? throw on a cute pair of sunnies. Basket weave purses are trending right now and I just so happen to have one in blue from TJmaxx.
As I was looking through some family photos, I came across this picture of my mom in this white maxi dress. I couldn’t help but laugh because here I am in the same type of dress. Thanks mom!

Divas I’m serving you 5 fab tips for your date night. let’s dive right in.
- Location: knowing where you are going is key. If it’s a surprise try to play it safe and pick an outfit that is not to casual and not to dressy. However my family and friends always say I am over the top.. and I must admit, I can be at times but at least I stay true to myself. I always usually dress fancy when going out.
- Good under garments: I am flat chested.. that’s no secret.. I am def apart of the itty-bitty-titty committee but that does NOT stop me from wearing a good supportive bra. Yes supportive because I have to fake it till I make it :). Panties matter too. If you are not a thong girl you can always find seamless underwear at Victoria Secret, Macy’s, Dillards or even TJMAXX. I repeat do not..do not wear form fitting clothes and have your pantie line showing. That’s a complete no no.
- Dress for your body type: If this is a date with a special someone. you want to put your best foot forward. I say this because we all want to be respected and love for who we are on the inside.. not the outside. treat yourself with respect first by dressing appropriately to your size.
- Hair & Makeup:
- Hair: Yes this matters. Most women know this. However I allow the clothes to speak to me and dictate weather I wear my hair up, down, bun, or curly. usually sleek looks like a good body wave or a bun look good for date nights. but you be the one to choose. (Let me know if you would like for me to post date night hairstyles)
- Makeup: I am not one to totally speak on makeup as I barely wear any. However I like to believe less is more.. Show your inner beauty and let the makeup accentuate what you already have.
- Shoes: I like to find shoes that will add color or a pattern to my outfit. There are so many varieties out to today to fit your specific style and foot needs. Try JustFab who even carry wide width. DSW is my next favorite one stop shop.
- Jewelry : Depending if you are dressing fancy or casual, simple hoops, or diamond drop studs are always staple jewelry pieces for me. I always like to have a single solitaire diamond necklace and a bracelet to spice things up. Macy’s, Charming Charlie, or even New York and Company always have great deals on fashion statement jewelry.
- Purse: Make sure your purse is big but cute enough to hold these essentials: lipstick or lip balm, tissue, phone, wallet, keys, travel perfume, gum or mint, touch up makeup and some cash.
- Cover up: depending on what season it is.. don’t be afraid to carry a light sweater or a cute leather jacket just in case it gets cold.

“I have learned that as long as I hold fast to my beliefs and values – and follow my own moral compass – then the only expectations I need to live up to are my own.”
– Michelle Obama.
I am holding onto my beliefs in God, morals, values and my goals. It has been a struggle to push myself to do more. Not that I am not doing enough but I have always been someone with multiple projects going or jobs. Now as a married women I am finding that things are changing.. for the good 🙂 I have ideas that I really would like to explore I just need to take that leap and become that true “Girl Boss” I already am!
This outfit is an representation of me right now. Solid green jumpsuit with a matching green tassel necklace. Shows my strength and stability on the outside. The shoes are funky in print which has always been the inner me. I added the black and white to show the contrast of my ideas form being bright to dark of where I need to step into the light and jump into my dreams and ideas!
