All Thing Thrift – No Spend Challenge

Hey ladies, happy February, Black History, no spend and love month! That’s right this month is jammed pack with goodies. First  up is some thrifty style inspiration. February is the shortest month so why not start a challenge. A “No Spend Challenge” thats right. I and my girls are on a no spend “clothes” fast. Would you like to join? IT;s easy.. you can’t buy any new clothing items this month you must shop your own closet. This should be easy and hard at the sometime. As well know Winter sales and Spring new arrivals are among us. One may argue that I don’t need any new clothes which is half way correct. Last year I donated 10 bag of clothes and sold items on Poshmark. So.. I may need to purchase a few summer items.. Stayed tuned for summer finds.. of course after February.

Here’s a fun fact… my blog is based off the items that are in my closet. I started this blog when I was in between jobs. It started off as some thing just to do in sure time and keep my mind busy. But I realized there’s another whole community through this and I absolutely love it! This no spend challenges is honestly getting me back to the true foundation of my blog. If you would like to join the #nospendchallenge. Simple use our hashtag to let us know you are in! We will support you and share our daily struggles and updates on how it’s going. The object is simply to save instead of constantly being a consumer. Lord knows a lot of us are in debt from student loans, credit cards, mortgage, cars…bills…bills and bills. So I think everyone could save a little and spend less.

So let’s dive into these outfits. Thrifting is not new to me, as I just haven’t [reviewed it here on the blog as much. Let me know if you would like to see more shifted items and how I style each piece. I love to shop consignment and thrift stores. Wherever I can get the best deal, I am there!

Animal Chic

Many of you know I love prints, animal just so happens to be one of my favorite. IF you follow me on Instagram, a few weeks ago I found this blazer at The Goodwill for $6.  Leather pants are a good 5 years now from TJMaxx, my Nike sneakers are from DSW and bought before I had my surgery last year. They were expensive but by far one fo the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. You get what you pay for! Belt is super old and the top underneath that you can barely see is last 2 seasons ago Gabrielle union sweater with leather detail on the front.

My heels are from JustFab and once again already was in my closet form several seasons ago. Don’t laugh but my sunglasses are on their last leg as I need to order more before the Georgia sun becomes blinding. I styled this look with heels or sneakers to give you an option as I am still not walking in heels yet. Yes a long recovery after the surgery I had last March.

Granny Smith or Should I say Dani Smith Inspired!

Lately my girl Dani Smith has been rocking her thrifted pieces and has been setting the shift bar high on Social media! I have had this skirt in my wardrobe for quite sometime and thought now is the perfect time to rock this look. It’s simple but classy. This 100% wool tweed skirt as purchased at The Goodwill for $5. The sweater I already had and my Liz Claiborne Boots are fromJcPenney 3 seasons ago for $19. I added a leopard print belt and bag which is a Gucci dupe for added character and thats it! Simple cute and ready to go!

I encourage you to visit your local Good will and shift stores, I  guarantee you will find some gems… well not this month maybe next month?

Until next time xo Happy Fashion Divas.

5 Tips For A Date Night Outfit

IMG_4333IMG_4331IMG_4327IMG_4330IMG_4335IMG_4328

Divas I’m serving you 5 fab tips for your date night. let’s dive right in.

  1. Location: knowing where you are going is key. If it’s a surprise try to play it safe and pick an outfit that is not to casual and not to dressy. However my family and friends always say I am over the top.. and I must admit, I can be at times but at least I stay true to myself. I always usually dress fancy when going out.
  2. Good under garments: I am flat chested.. that’s no secret.. I am def apart of the itty-bitty-titty committee but that does NOT stop me from wearing a good supportive bra. Yes supportive because I have to fake it till I make it :). Panties matter too. If you are not a thong girl you can always find seamless underwear at Victoria Secret, Macy’s, Dillards or even TJMAXX. I repeat do not..do not wear form fitting clothes and have your pantie line showing. That’s a complete no no.
  3. Dress for your body type: If this is a date with a special someone. you want to put your best foot forward. I say this because we all want to be respected and love for who we are on the inside.. not the outside. treat yourself with respect first by dressing appropriately to your size.
  4. Hair & Makeup:
    1. Hair: Yes this matters. Most women know this. However I allow the clothes to speak to me and dictate weather I wear my  hair up, down, bun, or curly. usually sleek looks like a good body wave or a bun look good for date nights. but you be the one to choose. (Let me know if you would like for me to post date night hairstyles)
    2. Makeup: I am not one to totally speak on makeup as I barely wear any. However I like to believe less is more.. Show your inner beauty and let the makeup accentuate what you already have.
  5. Accessories:
    1. Shoes: I like to find shoes that will add color or a pattern to my outfit. There are so many varieties out to today to fit your specific style and foot needs. Try JustFab who even carry wide width. DSW is my next favorite one stop shop.
    2. Jewelry : Depending if you are dressing fancy or casual, simple hoops, or diamond drop studs are always staple jewelry pieces for me. I always like to have a single solitaire diamond necklace and a bracelet to spice things up. Macy’s, Charming Charlie, or even New York and Company always have great deals on fashion statement jewelry.
    3. Purse: Make sure your purse is big but cute enough to hold these essentials: lipstick or lip balm, tissue, phone, wallet, keys, travel perfume, gum or mint, touch up makeup and some cash.
    4. Cover up: depending on what season it is.. don’t be afraid to carry a light sweater or a cute leather jacket just in case it gets cold.

What are some of your favorite date night tips?

It’s finally Friday Jr.! Have you ever looked on Pintrest and you see these glamorous bloggers in their cute skinny pants, simple blouse and heels? have you ever tried a look that and couldn’t master it? Well here is a simple way to do just that!

First you need to figure out what color you are in the mood for.. and if you do not have a wide range of color selections your closet, no worries pull out your best pair of jeans! In this case I chose my black skinny stretch jeans from NY & Company. The next step is to pick out a blouse or even a sweater, whichever is more appropriate for your climate. Since Georgia is currently transitioning to spring early I opted for my favorite animal print blouse. I love to be warm and since I work in an office I wanted to drape this look with royalty shall I say.. I fell like a million buck in this green velvet blazer that hails from Dillard’s! Now you already know what are the odds of finding green velvet? Very odd! But JustFab came through on these lovely velvet green pumps. Depending on your style you can wear heels, flats or boots depending on what best fits your personality for that day. It’s as simple as that. outfits made easy!

Step 3: Tie one side part and apply leave in conditioner to your hair. I like to concentrate on my ends and edges of my hair. Now use the paddle rush to help distribute the leave in conditioner evenly throughout your hair.
