Hey ladies, yes it’s been forever since I have written a blog. But why not come back the last month of the year. I am determined to finish it off with a blast!Whelp we are in full swing of the holiday season. If you follow me on Instagram I hinted that December is one of my favorite months. I will be sharing why and starting off my 12 days of holiday glam outfits this month as well. So buckle up and hold on tight cause I plan to make this December a bang.
Growing Up Without Christmas
Only my closes friends know that I absolutely love December because of Christmas. It’s not just the gifts, or the holiday cheer that gets me all in a frenzy, however there’s a deeper meaning behind it. I grew up muslim, not barely celebrating any holiday’s besides thanksgiving and my birthday only because my mom demanded my day to allow us too. However deep in my soul, I knew one day I would be Christian. When my parents officially spilt when I was in High school my mom asked what would you like to do. I said please take me to church, and that she did. We attended and soon became members of her childhood church Bethel A.M.E Methodist Church in San Diego California. I was soon baptized and even joined the youth choir. Please don’t ask me to sing as i really can’t but I definitely put on a solo concert for friends and family lol!! Anyways. I ventured down the new Christian path with my best-friend Vanessa. We both shared similar struggles going up as we held onto each other tight and allowed God to blossom through us!
From there of course Christmas was filled with more than a meaning of just gifts but a true estimate of What God brought me through and who I was becoming. This may sound odd but the death of my parents marriage was the birth of my spiritual connection to God. I truly think my other for heeding to God’s voice and listening and knowing that she had to move in another direction in order to give her children a future.
The entire month of December brings me warm and fuzzy cheerful delight with my family and friends. Although my brothers and sisters all live in different states, that never stops us form talking just about everyday. The holiday season tends to bring us closer together as we share a special bond and cherish this month for it’s a different meaning of light for our family.
What makes you most happy about this season? Do you and your family have any special traditions? I’ll share one of mine. Every year at midnight when the Clock strikes 12 and it is Christmas day, I get up bless the house and read the birth of Christ. We pray and may even sing a song a two. I actually started this tradition years ago and now has carried on with my husband! I am eager to hear what it is you all do?
So let’s get into this first holiday look. This is definitely a little bit of old and new mixed together to create the perfect pop! Starting form head to toe. You all have seen this luxe green velvet blazer that comes from my favorite New years shopping place… cough cough Dillards of course. Pairing it with this fuzzy mixed with velvet bow with a bling broach adds the perfect touch for the top! No necklace needed! I purchased this sweater from Poshmark but it still available at Zara. Who doesn’t like gold trousers. I do. I’ve been searching high and low for the perfect gold trousers and of course New York & Company came through. I topped this look off with a pair of patent black loafers or of course my matching green velvet heels.
Ladies have you been wondering about the top 5 must have boots or booties for your closet this fall and winter? Reluctantly I already had a few of these in my shoe-drobe.
Velvet: This trend is always in style however it has taken this fall by storm! Velvet is also being offered in “crushed” velvet and a variety of colors such as burgundy, black, pink, blue and taupe. Combat boots below are from GoJane.
Floral’s: Flora tops, Floral skirts you must have floral shoes! We are taking a journey through the the 70’s with the velvet and floral trend. mix them together and you have the perfect pair! You will find floral prints everywhere this season. Floral prints are a great way to take any basic outfit to stylish! Boots below are from DSW.
Knee High: I love knee high boots unfortunately it is hard for me to find boots that fit my skinny leg.. If you are skinny like me there’s 2 options. Buy a knee high boot that doesn’t not involve zippers or extra material. You can take you boot to any shoe repair to have them fit to your leg. Or you can buy a pair Sam Edleman boots from Nordstroms. He designs knee high boots for skinny legged women like me. Knee highs are great for over jeans, under mini skirts and shorts!
Shooties: Shooties are great for taking your wardrobe from Summer to Fall.. or Winter to spring. I can never wear shooties in the winter as I am always cold… My toes would be frozen by the time I make it down the street. Shooties often add a sexy look to any outfit. It has just enough coverage and exposure to say hey.. look at me! Boots are from JustFab
Embroidery: My honest opinion about this trend can go from classy to trashy real quick! Embroidery is such a classic look, however I feel like some of the summer pieces that were out were very cheap looking! I tried not to venture to far into this trend as it seems like it will come and go very fast. Try to stick with your classic embroidery prints instead of the trendy ones. Boots below are from JustFab.
I am in the mood for Fall cleaning? Does anyone do this? I do especially when I need to pack away my summer clothes.. I need to clean and refresh my clothes but also my mind. As we enter the fall and winter season I love to take the time and reflect not only on the year but the upcoming months. I often like to make new long and short term goals. I said after I get married I wanted to start zumba and become more active! honestly I was waiting for my best friend to move here so we could start 🙂 okay so that a lame excuse for my lazy butt. Maybe in the near future that will happen. Until then get to cleaning out all the old and in with the new!
I am still in love with my wedding colors! Blush pink and wine.. My wardrobe is really starting to look like a little girls dream. Keep it simple and light with knit sweaters with lace detailing. I love this look as it’s simple but adds a sweet little touch to your outfit. Bomber jackets are perfect for the fall season. they are not to heavy and not to light provides you with just enough coverage for a cool breeze. This velvet bomber has gold hardware that ads the perfect pop! I kept this look simple with a pull on pair of jeggins and my oh oh so fresh wine ribbon lace faux suede boots! Ladies aren’t these boots hot, fresh.. I feel like dancing.. okay let me get it together. An outfit like this is perfect for the weekend!
