Why Sweaters are Perfect For “Sweater Weather”

Yes divas it’s officially sweater weather. that’s right, pull out your chunky, knit, turtle neck, hi lo, and all color sweaters out of your closet! I sure am.. If you didn’t know I love sweaters…all types! I don’t discriminate. (lol) anyways, today’s blog is about sweaters.. well obviously! I love mixing a long cardigan with a good sweater.

Why A Cardigan?

Cardigans are my go to in the fall and winter! why? because they add an extra layer of warmth, style and can easily jazz up or dress down an outfit. I stay cold so have a funky layer piece always says i thought about this outfit instead of “I’m cold.” I usually flock towards long cardigans so that it makes wearing leggings, skinny cans, crop tops, or any sweater that hits right at your waist look more professional.. especially if you are int eh work place. Let’s get this right, I don’t wear crop tops to work that’s so not appropriate.

  1. V-neck
  2. Crewneck
  3. Chunky
  4. long line

Why A Sweater?

Because it keeps your warm! Thats so obvious however Sweaters can also be dressed up or down! styled with jeans, slacks, shorts, skirts you name it! I feel like I should have said greens, beans, potatoes.. you name it!! There are so many different styles that at least having the basics are necessary.

  1. V-neck sweaters are great for a business casual look, where you can easily pair a button up collard blouse underneath.
  2. Crew neck, which is also the round neck.
  3. Cowl neck sweater is for someone who like the “thought” of a turtleneck but possibly doesn’t like the “i’m being choked” feeling.
  4. Turtleneck
  5. Mock neck
  6. Oversized, one of my favs to wear with leggings or skinny jeans.
  7. Cropped
  8. Hi Lo

All of these types of sweaters come in, slim knit, chunky, oversized, cropped, hi lo you name it there’s a sweater that will fit your style.

Now for my look! I went for an all white underneath this crazy english scene print cardigan. True story, my boss thought I was excited about thanksgiving, she thought it was turkey and cranberries on my cardigan. However it’s actually a women in a store selling fruit to a man at a counter. anyway this cardigan coat is super warm, long and has every pop of color your heart desires! I pair it with my chunky cable knit white turtleneck, a pair of skinny Michael Kors jeans and my high hell lace up booties! It’s so simple.

How do you wear your sweaters and cardigans?

IMG_3217IMG_3199IMG_3206IMG_3203IMG_3211IMG_3215

Do you ladies ever go thrifting? Well I must say thrifting for me is therapeutic.. it’s almost like  a hunt or what great items will I find.. I have 2 hot spots I love to thrift and consign at. one is the GoodWill and another is a black owned thrift shop called Best Kept Secret. I have actually posted a few other items from BKS on the blog. BKS is actually black owned and if anyone knows I love supporting black owned businesses!

So lest get right into this furry outfit. Stating form head to toe, I purchased this fabulous fur vest from BKS. It’s originally from Chicos and it still have the $150 price tag on it! I love how the faux fur offers different neutral tones that is pared with a cream knit back and a leather belt. I placed a simple cream sweater underneath. my skirt is thirfted from the GoodWill. I love the grey wool blend with the gold sailor buttons. As it gets colder I will definitely wear tights with this but I thought my legs look good enough to wear with they extra high heel booties! I kept my accessories simple with a gold wrist-lit.

Don’t be afraid to go thrifting you never know what goodies you just may find.

I totally freaked out because I had just tried on that same jacket at at NY & Co, but I refused to pay $80 for it. But tell me why the Fashion GAWDS came through and let a diva get this jacket for $23 on clearance. I lost my mind again as why would they drop this to clearance the jacket had just came out… ask no question my happy tail hit the purchase button and bam!

I pared this jacket with my cranberry body-con mock neck dress.. black tights and black booties.. let’s not forget this stunning cranberry satchel from JustFab! Mind you I have this purse in blue too, it is really that amazing. This was such an easy outfit to pair together. you can take this blazer jacket form casual to dressy take your pick!

Cotton Candy Fall Outfit

IMG_3196IMG_3197IMG_3200IMG_3205IMG_3218

Can I tell you that it’ is freezing here in Georgia and Iv’e been in my sweats, hoodies and boots! As I have mentioned before crushed velvet is in, when I saw these sneakers it took me way back in time.. All the way to when I was 16 working the concession stand at Sea World in California. These soft Rocket Dog tennis shoes reminded me when I used to sell cotton candy or should I said candy floss. There were always guest at the park that owned their own convenient stores, that would complain about the price of “candy floss” I can’t even lie the price was ridiculous, but at that time it’s either you want it or not.. I guess after working a little over a year, cooking cotton candy and going home smelling like sea lions and Shamu I should probably hate the smell of it.. Sadly I find myself sneaking tot eh dollar store for bags of cotton candy.

I paired these shoes with a soft heather grey sweat outfit. These sweat are soft, not to thick or thin, comes with lace detailing on the pants and the neck line. I places a simple pink “feeling Fierce” tee underneath and called it a day. this cotton candy winter outfit is perfect for running errands, staying warm or even lounging around the house!

Like how could you resist this!!??  I love the way pink can soften an outfit especially for these ugly grey days! Pink pants from TJmaxx were a winner for this outfit. I paired this with my simple coach tennis shoes. Of course I will layer this outfit with a leather jacket or a heavy coat depending on how cold or warm the day is! Ready to ride out with the boys and still look cute? I put this outfit together on one of those get up and go days! Starting with this cute blue and black quilted Moto jacket from TJMaxx. The jacket is outlined with buttons, buckles and faux leather and always makes a statement. The retro flower print that is quilted has enough pop to jazz up any basic outfit. This cotton blue jumper I have had for years and I can never seem to get rid of it. I am sure F21 still has something similar. Simple black leggings to stay warm for the few winter days we have left. They are very warm, stylish and comfortable, I am forever getting compliment. Ride out this weekend in STYLE! xoxo Happy Fashion Divas

A Hint of Yellow

img_1803-jpgimg_1801-jpgimg_1798-jpgimg_1797-jpgimg_1799-jpgimg_1802-jpg

Being out and about doesn’t mean you have to run around in sneakers and leggings. I wanted to give a pop of color to the grey day! My sweater has pops of yell teal and blues that are sprinkled throughout.. Unfortunately this jazzy chic sweater hails from The Limited that recently went out of business. So Sad no worries you can find sweaters that look just like this one.. I paired it with one of my favorite JustFab flared jeans. To stay warm in this minimal look I added my favorite grey faux fur leather grey Moto jacket.

To top off this look I wore my  vibrant yellow “granny” boots and a mini yellow purse. This look is fun and ket me warm on this cold grey day.. xox Happy Fashion Divas

Knee High Boots

img_1777-jpgimg_1785-jpgimg_1788-jpgimg_1789-jpgimg_1790-jpg-1img_1793-jpg-1img_1795-jpg

I am petite, thin, skinny however you want to say it, I choose to embrace the skin I am in! It’s hard for me to follow the “new” trends since my body type doesn’t fit into everything. However I have had these knee high Shoedazzle boots for 2 years now and have never worn them.. particularly because the calf part was too big for my leg.. so I made it work.. Since 2 years ago I have gained a couple pounds and I used my handy leg warms to help fill up the empty space 🙂 hey a girl has to learn how to work it!

I paired these burgundy mixed media boots with a simple skinny soho jean from New York & Company and of couple a complimentary matching Eva Mendes turtle neck. To top off this look I added a neutral with my camel pea-coat that I thrifted and my favorite plaid blanket scarf!

This outfit was simple cute and sexy all at the same time! Xox Happy Fashion Divas!
