You are She-story

img_5342

Today I am honoring all of us! Why because you deserve to be celebrated too! Did you know that everyday when you wake up you make history..better yet SHE-Tory! Why because you contributed to society, God gave you the breathe of life to make a difference. Sometimes you don’t realize that just by you saying good morning with a smile to stranger can make that persons day! Sometimes it’s the small things that count instead of the big tings.

Growing up I used to say I wanted to graduate from a prestigious university with a 4.0, land this executive position where I could wear those fly business suits with the red bottom heels, Chanel bag, shades and my perfectly manicured nails and har! Boom! that was me. Turns out none of that happened but instead I have tried to make a difference in other ways.

I decided to put on a bow blouse underneath the sweaters hit and tie two bows! Bam had to double it up for drama! You all know I love leopard print so I tied in my booties and a leopard print bag. I decided to be on trend with these leather joggers that are super comfortable and affordable. As you can see we all wore leather bottoms without even telling each other, but that just means how much you need to go and snag yourself a pair of leather pants, skirt or shorts! Leather is hot! I usually don’t talk about my hair but yawl this ponytail was only $13 from my local beauty supply. I will leave the link below..Looking for drama this pony will give it to you!

All Thing Thrift – No Spend Challenge

Hey ladies, happy February, Black History, no spend and love month! That’s right this month is jammed pack with goodies. First  up is some thrifty style inspiration. February is the shortest month so why not start a challenge. A “No Spend Challenge” thats right. I and my girls are on a no spend “clothes” fast. Would you like to join? IT;s easy.. you can’t buy any new clothing items this month you must shop your own closet. This should be easy and hard at the sometime. As well know Winter sales and Spring new arrivals are among us. One may argue that I don’t need any new clothes which is half way correct. Last year I donated 10 bag of clothes and sold items on Poshmark. So.. I may need to purchase a few summer items.. Stayed tuned for summer finds.. of course after February.

Here’s a fun fact… my blog is based off the items that are in my closet. I started this blog when I was in between jobs. It started off as some thing just to do in sure time and keep my mind busy. But I realized there’s another whole community through this and I absolutely love it! This no spend challenges is honestly getting me back to the true foundation of my blog. If you would like to join the #nospendchallenge. Simple use our hashtag to let us know you are in! We will support you and share our daily struggles and updates on how it’s going. The object is simply to save instead of constantly being a consumer. Lord knows a lot of us are in debt from student loans, credit cards, mortgage, cars…bills…bills and bills. So I think everyone could save a little and spend less.

So let’s dive into these outfits. Thrifting is not new to me, as I just haven’t [reviewed it here on the blog as much. Let me know if you would like to see more shifted items and how I style each piece. I love to shop consignment and thrift stores. Wherever I can get the best deal, I am there!

Animal Chic

Many of you know I love prints, animal just so happens to be one of my favorite. IF you follow me on Instagram, a few weeks ago I found this blazer at The Goodwill for $6.  Leather pants are a good 5 years now from TJMaxx, my Nike sneakers are from DSW and bought before I had my surgery last year. They were expensive but by far one fo the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. You get what you pay for! Belt is super old and the top underneath that you can barely see is last 2 seasons ago Gabrielle union sweater with leather detail on the front.

My heels are from JustFab and once again already was in my closet form several seasons ago. Don’t laugh but my sunglasses are on their last leg as I need to order more before the Georgia sun becomes blinding. I styled this look with heels or sneakers to give you an option as I am still not walking in heels yet. Yes a long recovery after the surgery I had last March.

Granny Smith or Should I say Dani Smith Inspired!

Lately my girl Dani Smith has been rocking her thrifted pieces and has been setting the shift bar high on Social media! I have had this skirt in my wardrobe for quite sometime and thought now is the perfect time to rock this look. It’s simple but classy. This 100% wool tweed skirt as purchased at The Goodwill for $5. The sweater I already had and my Liz Claiborne Boots are fromJcPenney 3 seasons ago for $19. I added a leopard print belt and bag which is a Gucci dupe for added character and thats it! Simple cute and ready to go!

I encourage you to visit your local Good will and shift stores, I  guarantee you will find some gems… well not this month maybe next month?

Until next time xo Happy Fashion Divas.

It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas

Hey ladies, yes it’s been forever since I have written a blog. But why not come back the last month of the year. I am determined to finish it off with a blast!Whelp we are in full swing of the holiday season. If you follow me on Instagram I hinted that December is one of my favorite months. I will be sharing why and starting off my 12 days of holiday glam outfits this month as well.  So buckle up and hold on tight cause I plan to make this December a bang.

image00016

Growing Up Without Christmas

Only my closes friends know that I absolutely love December because of Christmas. It’s not just the gifts, or the holiday cheer that gets me all in a frenzy, however there’s a deeper meaning behind it. I grew up muslim, not barely celebrating any holiday’s besides thanksgiving and my birthday only because my mom demanded my day to allow us too. However deep in my soul, I knew one day I would be Christian. When my parents officially spilt when I was in High school my mom asked what would you like to do. I said please take me to church, and that she did. We attended and soon became members of her childhood church Bethel A.M.E Methodist Church in San Diego California. I was soon baptized and even joined the youth choir. Please don’t ask me to sing as i really can’t but I definitely put on a solo concert for friends and family lol!! Anyways. I ventured down the new Christian path with my best-friend Vanessa. We both shared similar struggles going up as we held onto each other tight and allowed God to blossom through us!

image00010

From there of course Christmas was filled with more than a meaning of just gifts but a true estimate of What God brought me through and who I was becoming. This may sound odd but the death of my parents marriage was the birth of my spiritual connection to God. I truly think my other for heeding to God’s voice and listening and knowing that she had to move in another direction in order to give her children a future.

The entire month of December brings me warm and fuzzy cheerful delight with my family and friends. Although my brothers and sisters all live in different states, that never stops us form talking just about everyday. The holiday season tends to bring us closer together as we share a special bond and cherish this month for it’s a different meaning of light for our family.

image00005

What makes you most happy about this season? Do you and your family have any special traditions? I’ll share one of mine. Every year at midnight when the Clock strikes 12 and it is Christmas day, I get up bless the house and read the birth of Christ. We pray and may even sing a song a two. I actually started this tradition years ago and now has carried on with my husband! I am eager to hear what it is you all do?

image00014

So let’s get into this first holiday look. This is definitely a little bit of old and new mixed together to create the perfect pop! Starting form head to toe. You all have seen this luxe green velvet blazer that comes from my favorite New years shopping place… cough cough Dillards of course. Pairing it with this fuzzy mixed with velvet bow with a bling broach adds the perfect touch for the top! No necklace needed! I purchased this sweater from Poshmark but it still available at Zara.  Who doesn’t like gold trousers. I do. I’ve been searching high and low for the perfect gold trousers and of course New York & Company came through. I topped this look off with a pair of patent black loafers or of course my matching green velvet heels.

Purpose & Passion

Purpose and Passion is the theme for March. My hopes are to dig deep this month and finding your purpose which equals your passion. I have talked about this before lightly. However I think it’s a good time to revisit this. Not only for you all to be motivated but me as well. I tend to have atones of ideas, thoughts, passions and goals and some i never execute. However I am so exited that I have my girl tribe. IF you haven’t read my blog post about why you need a girl tribe check it out here.

img_0420

Anyways let’s dive into this Faith In fashion motivation. “Great are your purposes and mighty are your deeds. Your eyes are open to the ways of all mankind; you reward each person according to their conduct and as their deeds deserve.” Jeremiah 32:19. This month I tend to explore some of my goals and my purpose. Truly write and define and try to execute the ones that truly reflect my purpose. I want you all to write a goal, define and execute. let’s see how far we get this month! It will be interesting, well for me anyways. Are you ready to Conquer March ladies? Remember the theme is Purpose and Passion. Let’s rock your purpose in style.

img_0421

For this outfit, I wanted to a do a super classy and chic look. I mixed a little bit of old with new! You all know I love New York and Company, and I just had to snag this Gabrielle Union overalls that were on super clearance! No longer available however they have something similar! I love the cute adjustable buckles that snap in the back. This skinny pant leg overalls will set you apart especially in the office! I paired it with this roaring blue leopard blouse form JcPenny.. cough cough years ago. But the way I switch out my clothes you would think it was new! Topping this look off with a sequin beret and stank heel faux suede booties did the trick. And let’s not forget my blue floral and leather moto jacket. this was a major find and steal from TjMaxx a few years ago. Don’t sleep on the steals.

More Than A Conqueror

No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.
Romans 8:37

I stumbled upon this passage right when I needed it the most. As many of you know my godmother passed last month and it did take me by storm. When I returned home from her funeral my husband had the house clean bed made.. and this devotional sitting on my night stand by my side of the bed. I looked at it and smiled.. but looked closer and this scripture was right on the front cover. I knew this would be our spiritual premise for the month of February.

img_0488

I have faced many challenges and obstacles in my life and boy do I know there’s more to come. I just try to position myself where I am prepared for whatever is to come. I try to learn from what I have already gone through and apply it to the next situation.

So what is a conqueror? What does this word mean to you and how are you allowing God to conqueror your life?

  • To be honest I didn’t know what it meant to conqueror anything. I had never thought about my struggles as accomplishments and conquering them. Whenever a problem or a tasks arise something inside of me would kick into go mode, and to find a solution and execute! Well that all changed as I grew older, wiser and closer to God.
  • Conquering to me means achieving
  • I allow God to conqueror my life by listening to him daily. I have found that I have to be spiritually fed in order to maneuver through life. Daily I must subject myself to him. Because lord knows if I operate in myself I can do some serious damage, make unnecessary mistake etc.

Let’s conqueror this month divas! Be bold, be you and say true!

img_0492

Mali Music- More Than A Conqueror is the perfect song to meditate to this month. I once praised danced too this song and let’s just say.. Amen! To this day it still gives me that energy that I need when feeling low!

Are you ready for these outfit details? You can pare black with anything, it’s a neutral! Since it has warmed up a bit here in Georgia i decided to keep my layers light but still warm enough for that cool breeze that bites yeah in the butt! My all black is from New York And Company. You have seen both the Gabrielle Union bow front sweater and my trusty black leggings… that I need to replace soon! I’m in love with crochet bishop sleeve cardigans.. can’t you tell? It’s from another one of my favorite online boutiques “Shein“! I have this cardigan in grey and red. It comes in several colors ranging from a charcoal grey, sage green and duty pink! My booties.. sorry ladies are so sold out.. I know they sold out within one week but I will leave you a similar pare down below.. To top this look off I added mr crown, from Bold Looks and Head Wraps! Mrs. Juanita hand makes each wrap and I am totally in love with them!

This Christmas, 3 Things I’m most Thankful for!

Merry Christmas to my wonderful and lovely fashionista Divas. I am so thankful to see another Christmas. Let’s not forget the true meaning of Christmas “She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.” Matthew 1:21 NIV. Oh what a joyous day that our lord and savior was born! I am so thankful for God and all of the blessing he has bestowed upon me!

img_0069

As you can see today’s blog is a collaborative with my girls the I(E)SHA’S- Daniesha of Officiallychic and Kisha of Kisharoseatl. We wanted to bring you some Holiday cheer, what I am thankful for and a bit of fashion inspiration all at the sometime! Remember our last collaboration was about having a girl tribe.. well no lie our theme is tartan aka plaid and that was it. But you know when yawl are truly friends, sister, bff’s when 2 out of 3 come dressed in the same outfit!!! Ha I started screaming when Daniesha showed up wearing exactly the same outfit. We thought it was so cute and said let’s roll with it. See great minds think alike!

Simply God

img_0114

I can’t express how thankful I am for my lord and savior. I have been through many ups and downs. Lately I have found myself feeling extra low, a bit depressed and sad.. to the point I can’t just pinpoint one thing that is totally bothering me.. I know that this is a sign to bring it back and focus on what’s always true and consistant. “God” no matter what happens I can always call on him and somehow, someway he always makes a way and I definitely feel better! Things are never perfect and I tend to sometimes get off track or get int hat day to day rut, but I always strive to put my best foot forward and walk in the path that God has set for me.

Family

img_0116

Who isn’t thankful for their family? Of course my main Twin my momma.. I talk about her often on my blog yawl should know her by now! Okay Okay sometimes I fight with my sisters like cats and dogs. like apple’s to oranges.. But it’s only because we are all unique individual people, with different minds and thought processes.. or maybe it’s just because we are women that are from Venus! My brother 1 of 4 girls bless his heart! He’s that jive turkey that you need right in the mist of it all to make sure the pot never over boils.. I’ve been through it all with my family and we are still standing. learning, growing and still cracking those same ole silly jokes that we never get tired of! Many people can’t relate but My in laws are my family. My mother in law is like another mother someone I can confide in and run fashion ideas by. Some of you know that I don’t have a relationship with my father but God works in mysterious way, he gave me one with my father in law! And yes I always wanted a little sister and lord Jesus why did you have to answer that prayer..lol but he did and so my sister in law fits right into my crew of sisters.. and yes drama? of course but she wouldn’t be a sister if we didn’t! I saved the best for last My Mr. This blog wouldn’t be in existence if it wasn’t for his love support. I love and I am so thankful for this man!

My Tribe- Friends

img_0112

Where do I start? I kinda don’t have friends.. You see once you become my friend you become family.. I truly hold my friendships dear and near and I sincerly care about each and every one fo you. I am going to name a few that have held me down from then to now! The Ladee Clique- Yawl know who you are.. and guess what the B2K Millennium tour is about to be LIT!!!!!! cough cough okay I just needed to get that out of my system. Deonna, Kevin, My Work boo’s C and V + a few more.. My new found sisters the I(E)sha’s my ATL girl tribe. This list could go on and on.. but I love all of yaull!

img_0119

Honestly I am so thankful for good health, a roof over my head, income, my sanity.. seriously cause sometimes adulating and dealign with life can just be hard.. I am jut thankful to be here and I am so thankful for you who support my blog! I end this blog with a warm hug and Sweet Merry Christmas to you and your family!

Being Mary Jane – Gab Union Edition

unnamedyellow 4yellow 6yellow 7yellow 3yellow 2

Divas did you know that Gabrielle Union has her own clothing line at New York and Company? It’s sizzling hot.. If you are a chill, career driven, classy and edgy diva, then this line is totally for you. If you have watched Being Mary Jane, then you know the outfits that Gabrielle wear are on fire. I am so excited about the spring line dropping. This time around they have incorporated fashion unity among women of all sizes with the Being Mary Jane. I think this is much needed and totally supports New York & Company’s overall mission.

So let’s get into this bold blazing sweater dress. Ladies this dress is more of a gold than a zinging yellow! The material is a stretch knit made to fit every curve of your body. The detailing on the waist and bust, gives you the tiny waist effect. I love the length of this dress as it’s sophisticated and classy that can be worn to work or out for a date night. I usually don’t have a hard time pairing shoes with my outfits, but this one put me to the test. This dress deserved to be done right, and I felt that a pop of leopard print would serve it justice! I paired this dress with my Antonio Melani leopard calf hair pumps and added a leopard wrap to my hair!  If you have not checked out the entire Gab Union line please do so, this dress also comes in a lovely peachy pink color. How are you Being Mary Jane?

Hey Divas,

It’s been to long yes.. but life has thrown me lemons for the passed couple of weeks so I am now making my lemonade! I am extremely tired and trying to get back into the swing of things.. staying motivated has been hard however i have thought of some new savvy ways to make some extra cash and to hopefully take my blog to new heights!

Let’s get into this super fun warm look. I love color and over sized pieces that i can cozy up with boots and leggings for the winter. Well i snatched this turtleneck poncho form my job? What? well I don’t work for a retail store, however threes this women who has her own boutique and shes sets up in the lobby of our office. She sells scarfs, ponchos, jewelry, purses wallets, and a few other accessories. How funny is that I actually had the “red” version of this poncho in my online shopping cart on shein.com. The price was only a $3 difference so i went ahead and bought it. the material is very heavy and thick like a wool blend. long enough to cover the front and your behind! I kept it simple with my favorite black leggings and my tall lace up booties from Justfab!

How are you staying warm and fashionable this winter?
